Guest House over Hotel

This is my third visit to Kolkata and when I first arrive I stay at the Novatel Hotel in New Town. It is a wonderful hotel , fantastic service, great rooms and ranges from $125-$200 a day with a fab breakfast buffet included.
I only stay for a few days and move to a guest house about 5 minutes walking away. The guest house I stay is the Golden Rama Roots. About 20 rooms on 5 floors. It is very new so I have all the mod cons and the price is about $30-$35 per day.
I prefer the guest house for long stays as the service at the Novatel can be over the top, always worrying that you are happy, never allowed to carry my own shopping etc. At the guest house I get to see more of local life.

I am working at two different work spaces, the main one is Eco Space, it is a 100 rupee ride from the guest house which is $2 or a 10 egg omelet. I can walk to the shops and walk home about 350 metres.

I visit the Novatel regularly for meals and to say hello to the friends I have made there, going there for dinner tonight.
