Hi Lana, there should be a very small hole in the back with the word reset, use a pin to push into it and restart the tom tom, that hopefully will do the trick. You could also ring a supplier or manufacturer to see if you would lose any saved data like favorite places etc first.

just so that every one will know , all electronics has a reset button somewhere and you need a a small safty pin to press button and doing this takes machine back to factory settings most times :)

Hey Lana

Option 1) Dr google instructions for your paticular model GPS and reset.
Option 2) Upgarde to a new mobile that has maps/gps built in.
Option 3) Don't buy a new GPS - upgarde phone instead.
Option 4) carpool with a navigator guy :D ( most girls don't do maps well )

Cheers Westy

Web search shows this is a common problem with certain Tom Tom models.

As Sir Cruiser suggests try Google unmute tomtom to see the range of least severe to most severe solutions. If out of warranty you may need to file in the circular file & try one of Westy's options

Good luck.

I've only had one GPS unit, a Garmin, for over five years. It's easy to use, still works well and hasn't directed me over a cliff yet. The software upgrades early on were a bit fiddly but that's improved a lot in recent years too. I bought it during a free lifetime map upgrades so need to pay any subscription fees on top of the unit's cost -- that was another major reason I chose it over Tom Tom.

Garmin is the go, Although i have been asked if my GPS is working properly because i seem to take longer for escorts. you can borrow mine and see what you think. Voice activated and also has live traffic updates, road works, roads blocked off etc etc. And if you still want more you can download a whole heap of celebs to do the voices.

Maybe its gone into true tomtom mode - have you listened for the muted sound of drums in the distance ? Tom, tom tom tom ; tom, tom tom tom; tom, tom tom tom; ..............

Now you just have to learn tomtom !

Gotta Garmin, not the top model but its got B/tooth and couple of other Gizmo's yo make my driving little bit easier. But what i cant understand is this..... I uaed to work in the Kewdale area and live in bedford, straight driving Abernathy rd Grandstand rd Garrett rd Grand pde then home. However my GPS kept sending me to Midland and then back to Bedford and Garret rd is listed as a gravel track GPS kept saying ,till i throttled her, redirect redirect .Even now it tells me to go bout 10 k's outa my way to get from point A to point B when i know in my mind a shorter and quicker way

Why we need these electronic Gizmos My wife was always with me when I drove to Perth and she could read any map

Any woman can

You just need to know one thing.
Instead of circling the destination of where you want to go to, have some stickers made up that say Shoe sale here And place it over desired destination

You will always be at the destination Often early
