German man dies after blowing up condom machine

A German man died on Christmas Day after blowing up a condom dispenser with a homemade bomb in a botched robbery, police say.

The 29-year-old and two accomplices attached the bomb to the vending machine in a quiet street before taking cover in their vehicle.

But the victim did not close the door in time and was struck in the head by a steel shard from the explosion.

His accomplices took him to hospital but he later died of his wounds.

The men told staff at the hospital in the western town of Schoppingen that their unconscious friend had fallen down the stairs.

But one of them later admitted to police that they had blown up the machine.

Police confirmed that none of the money or condoms from the machine had been taken.

The two surviving men were arrested before later being released from custody

At least his mates rushed him to the hospital without stopping to rob the machine first or just dumping him in a gully somewhere. Not that it ended up doing him much good.

The take away message might be, when you're about to do something risky, stop and think. "If I have to explain this to the ER" or "If I died right now..."

I mean in the countries I have travelled Condom vending machines have generally been in bars , night clubs and a other similar areas Not in the scrub at the side of the road

Is it to provide extra safety for hitchhikers , this German model or what ?

In Germany they have a massive FKK scene and they put condom vending machines in places like this near truck stops which is where ironically and coincidentally hookers congregate, so that is why the machine is as you say in the scrub which is probably just off a major autobahn or highway. as if you look in the top right hand corner of the image you see a red building don't you?
