Genital Herpes- Identify the Sexually Transmitted Disease

Are you afraid on STD? This is really serious and big word for everybody. Sexually transmitted disease is a threat for mankind as it can give infections like genital herpes. Genital herpes can occur in both male and female, adults, young adults and teenagers as long as you are sexually active.

A lot of people are introverted when it comes to sexual conversation. I love talking to my girl friends regarding on their experiences which literally opens the conversation for some serious talks. I heard a lot of concerns and questions especially from women who are worrying for some little thing that they noticed as they are active on sex. So what is STD? What about the virus and infection that we might get from having sexual intercourse?

Sexually Transmitted Disease or STD or sometimes referred as sexually transmitted infections has been around for thousand of years. The most dangerous condition of these infection is human immunodeficiency virus or HIV which been recognized in recent decades. These diseases can spread through sexual activities and not just sexual intercourse which includes kissing, oral-genital contact, and the use of sexual “toys,” such as vibrators.

Genital herpes is considered as a viral infection by the herpes simplex virus (HSV) that is transmitted through intimate contact. Most genital herpes is caused by HSV-2. When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. This infection is most common in women (approximately one out of four women) than in men (almost one out of eight). This may due to male-to-female transmission being more likely than female-to-male transmission.

Around 50 million persons in the United States are infected with genital herpes. Experts believed that 60% of sexually active adults carry the herpes virus. Women who are infected do not know that they are infected as mild itching or minimal discomfort is the only symptoms. Moreover, the longer the woman has had the virus, the fewer the symptoms they have with their outbreaks. Lastly, the virus can shed from the cervix into the vagina in women who are not experiencing any symptom.

Recurrent genital herpes infections are milder than the primary infection. Most people who have a recurrent HSV infection have burning, tingling, or pain in the area of the outbreak up to 24 hours before any visible time. A recurrence of genital herpes typically occurs spontaneously, and it can be triggered by conditions such as fever or illness, sun exposure, hormonal changes like due to menstruation and pregnancy, stress, trauma, surgery, friction to the area like with sexual intercourse or tight-fitting clothes. In addition, genital herpes can lead to potentially fatal infections in babies and may play a role in the spread of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

Here is the glimpse of facts regarding HSV infections and STD’s.

• Condoms do not usually prevent sexually transmitted diseases.

• HSV infections or genital herpes is a viral infection that can cause painful genital sores and recurrent outbreaks.

• A lot of people are infected with genital herpes but remains unaware. The virus can spread by direct person-to-person contact.

• An infected person may transmit the virus to others even he/she has no symptoms at present. There is no cure for genital herpes but the pain and outbreaks can be break with antiviral medications such as natural homeopathic relief formula.

Today, there’s a lot of remedy for every pain. All I can say is to be careful in choosing a product. Genital herpes is not a simple thing as we know the worst scenario that it can bring. What important is to know our partner first, to be open with each other particularly in sexual matters.

Condoms are not perfect but they do assist in stopping Std's.
The above statement worries me that it is a poor attempt not to use a condom.

I agree the condom is not the best invention ever invented but it does have its place for the sexually active.

If you have your partner agrees to only be sexualy active with you and after a check up and only then throwing the condom away is an option.

Of course the only problem sex is so easy to find these days and often we do not know very much about the person who we are enjoying sex with.

Of course depending where the herpes is located a condom may not help. I have heard of people with a small outbreak hidden in their anus.

I am not literally saying that condoms do not work for spreading diseases. I just pointed out that it was not a 100% protector! O0

Thanks for commenting anyway.. lol

Just in case if you are wondering how to look for sign of herpes? HSV-1 and HSV-2 viruses are the most common causes of herpes that are widely transmitted through sexual contact. Symptoms of HSV-1 consist of small red bumps that appear on the lips, inside of the mouth, tongue and throat. Symptoms of HSV-2 also consist of small red bumps that appear on the genital of infected individual.

Calm down sexnut.

Do you have blisters that appear around your mouth or your genitals, usually in clusters? If not, you don't have herpes in any form. Do you get the odd cold sore? You may or may not have herpes, the only thing that matters is that you don't transfer it to anyone else, so don't kiss anyone while you have them, and use those cold sore band aid things on the market now.

Over all: look after your general health and well-being, that will prevent outbreaks, but really, as long as you are responsible, it is no big deal.

Do I say these things because I know, because I have herpes. NO. I am just well-informed.

my query is if you have had chickenpox, does that mean you have herpes?

NOOOOOO!!!!!

I had chicken pox when I was a child, and I don't have herpes. In fact, having chicken pox as a child may make you immune to herpes. It is the same virus,it depends on the person how it develops. See my previous post.

Chickenpox, shingles, cold sores and genital herpes are all part of the same family of virus - the herpes virus. This is because the variations on the virus are all structured similarly enough and therefore behave similarly enough to be classified under the one umbrella. However, they all manifest in the body in different ways and therefore present with different symptoms. It is possible that they may mutate into one another or that one body part touching another with the other version of the virus could result in it manifesting in the new way - for example performing oral sex on someone with genital herpes could result in cold sores - but this is rare.

Think of it like cats. You have leopards, panthers, cheetahs, tigers etc that are all part of the cat family but are different species. This is because their DNA has enough that is identical to make them a family, but enough different that they are distinct. The herpes virus family is exactly the same. So technically you have the herpes virus but you don't have genital herpes version. We really just have to change the way we refer to the herpes virus. The word conjures up a connection with the genital variety, but this is scientifically incorrect, because that is not the entirety of the virus.

The other thing to understand about viruses is that coming into contact with one does not automatically mean that you will display symptoms or suffer any problems as a result. Think of the common cold, which is a virus - that virus exists in pretty much all of us all the time but rarely do we display the symptoms because our bodies' immune system keeps it under control. The most surefire way to keep yourself from suffering the ill-effects of any virus is to remain healthy and have a strong immune system because then even if you do come into contact with it there won't be any manifestation. There is a great deal of stress about genital herpes - probably because it has associations with being 'dirty' and is off-putting from a sexual perspective about which we are all sensitive - but it is no more significant than the cold or chickenpox.

I agree with you on the ocean 100%. I find it extremely cleansing myself and always want to go there when I've been ill and my body feels 'unhealthy' or 'grungy'. There is a lot of merit to it being cleansing as well due to all the minerals that are in the water and air on the beach.

There is a reason shingles is more horrific than chickenpox. Once you've had chickenpox the body has antibodies to it and most likely can't catch it again. In order for shingles to manifest it therefore has to be a much stronger strain of the virus to prevent the body's antibodies from being able to do their job. So it creates much more intense symptoms and can take much longer for the body to fight.

There's nothing they can do for a virus directly; they can only treat the symptoms and assist the body in fighting it off itself. So I'd say the pills were a sedative just to knock you out and the cream was calamine lotion.

Bit of first hand experience with this , sex with Tigers that is never caught herpes tho .

The liger is a hybrid cross between a male lion (Panthera leo) and a tigress (Panthera tigris). Thus, it has parents with the same genus but of different species. It is distinct from the similar hybrid tiglon. It is the largest of all known cats and extant felines.[1]

Ligers enjoy swimming, which is a characteristic of tigers, and are very sociable like lions. Ligers exist only in captivity because the habitats of the parental species do not overlap in the wild. Historically, when the Asiatic Lion was prolific the territories of lions and tigers did overlap and there are legends of ligers existing in the wild. Notably, ligers typically grow larger than either parent species, unlike tiglons which tend to be about as large a female tiger.[1]

hmmm no go zone obviously. In langtrees there is a red book here i often look at. I think if you went to magenta or something they are open to talking about risks. Magenta is for both punters and hostesses to go to for all the info you need. Worth going too.
