Nope! It has nothing to do with left or right wings or even chicken wings. America these days is overrun with god-bothering wowsers to an extent we can only dream (nightmare) of in this country.

If we don't watch ourselves here and put them back in their boxes periodically we, too, will have this problem. The Ruddster tried it with his internet "filtering" scheme and now Tony wants to try and sneak it in under the guise of blocking radical Muslim propaganda. But if you think he, or any other Government will stop there, think again.

This is what I meant though. America's god bothering wowsers are right wing conservatives. Also you totally right with the Internet filtering agenda. If there's one thing that every Government in the world has in common - no matter what kind of politics, they all want to control the internet to some degree, it's the largest advance in communication in human history and nobody controls it.

Years ago when I was working in IT for a Uni and we were just implementing the Internet for the first time via AARNet, the minister for comms at the time turned up to give a speech and ask questions and wanted to know more about the internet and what it could do.

When my boss explained it, the response was "who owns it and how do we control it"?

the administration til only recently ceding that power

The US government is to give up control of the administration of the internet, handing over responsibility for the IP numbering network and domain name system (DNS) to the global community.

This was only last year and not sure when the the actual handover date was to be

If you've watched the IT Crowd, you know that the internet is a little black box. LoL...

They can control it if they want to spend the $, time and effort. Countries like China has suckcessfully clamping down its internet at its roots.

There are many types of chicken wings too...

Therefore, there are ways of limiting what we have access to on the interweb
