May have heard on the news recently about FiFo workers and the rate of STD infection reaching epidemic proportions! Would this be sexy times in the mining towns or with w/l in the mining towns or is it when they arrive back to Perth?

Stay safe w/ls!!!

From what I read the article was talking about FIFO workers who fly to asian countries for their R&R

It appears that this is the original story on WA Today about two days ago, subsequently picked up by the SMH and others.

Not surprising really - bored guys with lots of spare cash. Either using local ladies or heading up into Asia.

It really gets me where they get these statistics from, Doctor confidentality and so forth. I can't see to many guys lining up to say they are going to see different girls ( i don't mean W/L's), especially if there married..
Similar to the one they had about the FIFO workers at the airport.

Ah, don't the press love a bit of dirt?

It is a strong possibility that some young bucks with too much money and their brains between their legs are getting S.T.D.s oveseas but probably nothing like an "epidemic".

It's not asia and it's not in perth. The highest rate of STI is still the indigenous, the guys up north go local.

When I worked in the goldfields in the early seventies we used to call those guys "Gin Jockeys" and it was not a compliment. Some of those horrors they paid for you would need a bag over their heads and a cotton bud soaked in Vicks up your nose plus a far stronger stomach than mine.

I'll wager this is just more media manure. Would a better way to consider this stat be a weighted average factoring the capita of people now in that industry as compared to say before the boom, which is really about 10-15 years ago, and hold that against other industries? Or is that what they did?

I reckon we'd all be better off if they'd just stick to showing us photos of Elle MacPherson's visits to the beach.
