Fatigue

Fatigue is one of the leading factors contributing to road crashes.

Driver fatigue is particularly dangerous because it affects everyone, no matter how experienced a driver is. Driving when becoming sleepy is a high risk behavior.

A driver who has been awake for 17 hours has a driving ability similar to that of a driver with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.05, and after 21 hours, similar to a BAC of 0.15.

Fatigue crashes are usually severe, resulting in serious injury and death, as the driver makes no attempt to avoid or prevent the crash.

This is the result of my crash about a month ago.
After finishing night shift i was driving home with a distance of about 57km. End result is i never completed the journey.
All i remember is BANG, BANG, SCREECH, BANG, BANG, AIR BAGS, SMOKE, FUCK, BANG, BANG.
52 steel pickets later and the vehicle had stopped. I was lucky enough to only come out with a few patches of skin missing and a swollen right hand from holding the steering wheel.

So please everyone don't drive tired.

Love those white bumpy things on the side of the highway, saved my ass more than a few times back when I used to work night shifts.
Should be on every major highway.

Up till last year I used to work 6pm till 6am every second week, would finish 6am Thursday morning and drive home to just south of Dunsborough straight after. The most dangerous part for me was the new straight stretch of highway bypassing Mandurah, soooo boring!

Definitely just pull over and have a snooze if your that tired. Few things in life are so important it's worth risking your life for.

Up here the last couple of fatalities involved both fatigue and also being startled by critters Last was a girl who swerved to miss a roo and before a bloke who had a few emu's run across in front of him

Strange isnt it But If it was one of those groups of Lycra clad cyclists who insist on going for a Sunday ride on a single lane , poorly maintained road in the middle of harvest You dont even worry about swerving Maybe even tramp the peddle just a tad

There was a bunch of them pedaling our of Kulin just before last harvest , with a front and rear escort . the annoying thing was they had channel 40 jammed with a waning recording.

Maybe they were truckers on their day off I mean its only truckers who use channel 40
There are so many idiots playing music and making bird noises, i so often have to turn it off. But i agree about being tired, when i go on long truck drives, i stop every two hours for 15 minutes and only drive for 12 hours even though that applies to just the eastern states, i do that here because the WA driving time is much longer, which i think it is wrong.
