I'm quite happy not to be a part of the social media network. I still keep in touch with people the old fashioned way ie: face to face , phone calls, skype, male, etc...........x

THAT'S WHY YOU KEEP IT PRIVATE, ONLY COMMENT ON THINGS YOU WANT IN PUBLIC, KEEP YOUR SETTINGS PRIVATE THEN PEOPLE CAN ONLY SEE YOUR MAIN PROFILE, NOT WHAT YOU WRITE, PRETTY SIMPLE, THAT IS JUST DUMB, WTF WOULD ANYBODY PUT THAT UP IN PUBLIC? But if you take away the publicity factor why would people go on face book? I always thought that the instant gratification, the 5 second fame and privacy going public is the main attraction for people to join face book.......???????

you can coment on things in public, if you keep your status private, those people that see your coments in public can't see your posts on your page, only your friends if you set it to that, pretty simple!! These people that are paranoid about it don't really know! Join Rochelle that is the only way you will work it out, you may just be surprised who is on there and on my page, people you do know..

that's exactly what I don't want, happytimes..........people finding me I did have a go on face book (I know hard to believe) a few years ago and got contacted from somebody I have avoided successfully for a very very long time. No thank you I am quite happy in my face book free world.

Yeah i get that, but i really don't care what people think (haven't for ALONG time as people judge you before they know SFA about you most of the time), plus i got no one to hide from, Nah got enough friends on FB which isn't many, ones i do know, easily pick fake profiles as well. Yeah i get it that would be hard for some W/L's, Though some are there, each to there own i guess, As i said i only have friends i do know, went to school with long ago ect, There are a few you would know though..Enough said lolthat's exactly what I don't want, happytimes..........people finding me

Yes Yes that is so true ... I find common sense is one of the rarest of qualities in people these days....
and a great number of people cross my path....

Call it paranoid or just anti "1984".......the internet opened up great possibilities for us but it would be naive to believe that humans are only using the up side of it........no way.......there are down sides.
Hence I don't see anything wrong with keeping my internet presence to a minimum.
Plus I have never been one who follows trends.......when face book became the big thing it was even more a reason for me to stay away from it........only because everybody was/is doing it doesn't mean I have to too.

no it doesn't your choice but get your facts right before stating what other people do like FAIL.. I don't follow trends either, never touched it till 2008, so you have your say but that doesn't mean everyone is as paranoid about social media as some.. People can hack into most things if they know how, don't get why you think skype is so safe because it isn't.. Most do it for there PERSONAL use not for the down side of it, like i said you had a bad experience from 1 person, doesn't mean we all do, if you would of kept it private that would not of happened unless you take friend requests from people you don't know or other people you know did.. You got your point i got mine, leave it at that.. WERE not all failures!!
