Did you know that Langtrees Canberra played a key role in helping shape the future of Queensland’s sex work laws? Before Queensland made the historic move to decriminalise sex work in August 2024, the Queensland Government actually paid us a visit here at Langtrees Canberra to see how we operate!
They were particularly interested in our innovative approach to combining a licensed bar with a bordello, and how our policies and procedures ensure safety, professionalism, and a welcoming environment for both clients and workers. Our emphasis on clear communication, respect, and high standards of operation showed them firsthand how a well-run establishment can positively impact the industry.
The visit allowed us to showcase how decriminalisation, when done right, can create a safer and more supportive environment for everyone involved. It’s a point of pride for us to know that our practices were used as a benchmark to help guide Queensland’s monumental decision to remove licensing barriers and fully decriminalise sex work.
Queensland, once known as the strictest state in Australia when it came to sex work laws, is now one of the most relaxed and progressive. This transformation is a huge win for workers’ rights and the industry as a whole, and we’re so proud to have been a small part of this change.
If you’re ever visiting Canberra, stop by Langtrees VIP Canberra to see what makes us stand out. And for those in Queensland, congratulations on the new laws—you’re setting the stage for a brighter future for the industry nationwide!
