Not diabetic but glucose intolerant with diabetes history in the family so I keep an eye on it with regular health checks, walk for an hour every day and try to eat healthy food, no sugary drinks.

Hi bepp712,

I am type 2 and acquired it as a result of trauma a few years ago. My readings at the trauma time was 14 to 18 and since has varied from 12 to 14. My new dr has been great with new meds since telling me i would have renal failure in 6 months but that was 9 months ago and my diabetes us under control. I am now on meds to reverse the nerve damage but i am very lucky in that it has only been a few years, long term diabetes peeps cannot get a break like that or at least it takes longer.

Changing diet, exercise and remembering to take the meds was hard but the hardest thing was and still us, the side effects. Mine was two of the worse which was the opposite to constipation and loosing weight. But i experimented with the timing and whilst i am loosing weight, i still suffer the other.

Although i do not stick a needle in, the diabetes still gas a major impact, i have to make sure i eat properly, exercise by working which is easier than the gym, drink plenty of fluids and get relaxed as much as possible. The last bit is well taken care of by Jaz at PT, you may have heard of her ;)

If you want to pm me and discuss anything more personal, please do so, i am happy to chat inbetween work etc.

I know it is tough and it affects our daily lives so much but keep at it, it should get easier over time.
