Self Saucing Pastry
This is a choc-strawberry self saucing pastry that i have customised to my own taste
Makes 4 serves.
You will need;
1 sheet of puff pastry
1 soft fruit (my preferance is stewed pears or fresh banana)
1 heaped table spoon of Nutella or Chocolate icing
1 heaped table spoon of Strawberry Jam
1 yolk or 1 tablespoon of melted butter
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees (fan forced so adjust with gas)
2. Quarter the pastry sheet
3. in a bowl combine the Jam and Chocolate Icing/Nutella into a paste
4. Slice the fruit into pieces no bigger than an inch
5. Put a small dollop of the choc/strawberry paste on the centre of a pastry square
6. Place fruit on the paste
7. Seal the pastry square into a parcel or roll (I prefer parcels)
8. Glaze with the whisked egg yolk or butter
9. Put in the oven for about 10 minutes or until golden brown
10. Let it cool slightly and enjoy (the paste becomes a sauce and oozes everywhere (is also crazy hot when you first open the parcel))
It's quick and easy and is a weakness of mine when i have a sweet tooth craving.
