For those who know who they are. Here are the 2 greatest martial arts icons from different times.
I remember Tiger Cage being a good Donnie Yen flick. I saw a lot of these movie on SBS or Chinatown video.
Jackie made some great movies. Pity about his Hollywood ventures.
Chinese take away and HK flicks is about all I know of the orient.
Lord - you guys are behind the time... =)
For Donnie Yen, one big film was SPL; cause of Sammo and Jing Wu.. the fight scene were insane and very fast pace. He likes to plays rogue cops.. infact, a lot of HK actors love playing Rogue cops..
Flash Point is another good one - insane end fight..
However, if you really want to pick up something amazing, you can't get pass Ip Man - he smashed HK film record with that. don't watch the sequel though.. it was a POS.
Donnie Yen is THE actor now - so he's been cast in alot of HK movies and unlike Jackie Chan; h didn't worry to much about trying to break into Hollywood - his only attempted was as Iceman in Blade 2; after which.. he just didn't bother.
If you guys have the time; try get 'Flying Swords of Dragon Gate - Jet Li' - it's an OLD OLD martial art story and myth that get a new rendition every decade or so.. and this one was very enjoyable... Tsui Hark is a very well known HK director that does one 'EPIC' film every 1-2 years..
If you guys want more.. I can list out some of the GOOD movies you should watch.. =)
You are right Donnie Yen is the biggest deal in HK at the moment and did not sell out for a Hollywood placement. Is he still going to make another Ip Man movie?
