It was announced in 2020 that Australian Idol would return to television in 2022, more than ten years after going off the air. The reality singing competition has been picked up by Seven Network, and it will air again in 2022 after appearing for the last time on Channel 10 in 2009. According to a report from TV Tonight, Australian Idol may now need to air in 2023 due to COVID's influence on live productions. Idol is the granddaddy of them all, Seven Programming Director Angus Ross declared when the programme was acquired last year. In 2022, Seven will air the biggest event in the world, and we already know Australians will adore it.
We are eager to bring Idol back to Australian audiences in 2022 so that we can outpace the competition with our prime time content lineup. At Seven, we have the biggest television franchises, and Idol is the biggest of them all. Welcome to 2022!
Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Matt Corby, Damien Leith, and more Aussie celebrities have been on the programme in the past.
