Bushy old chap mining is going harder than ever the gold and iron spot price has slipped a bit and construction in the mining industry has slowed however there are plenty of cranes working in Perth an AG is doing OK . so if there are a few spare WLs around it could be something to do with the UNY kids on holidays .
Hi Farm Boy2,
What you say may well be true, but up north, we have lost more than 500 jobs in the last three months from BHP alone !
Then there are all the ancillary companies and contractors, like us, putting people off.
You are quite correct, BHP has been saying for over a year that their construction phase was coming to an end, and then they would just be running in their Production and Maintenance phases, and so they would be shedding people. But nobody listened because the cash cow looked unbreakable.
Now they have simply followed their stated plan, and the result is around 500 BHP (I don't know exact figures, but am relying on the WEST AUSTRALIAN !) jobs gone, and a few hundred from ancillaries - so you would think that there would be less money floating around for WLs.
Yet the prices in PG keep going up. Two years ago, the average price appeared to hover around $300 to $350 per hour, but now it sits around $400 to $450 per hour, and many ladies start at $500 per hour !
I can only assume that there are still lots of blokes around willing to pay these prices, or the ladies would be idle.
The bottom line is that I am being priced out of the scene.
Even up at the site, all the talk now appears to be about Asian girls who charge around $180 per hour, and very few still talk about caucasians any more.
So Bushy, if you can find a way to get nice girls back into reasonable prices, then you certainly have my vote !
Cheers.
