And he doesn't cease to "amaze" me ...........

What is astounding me is the world military, in part, not following, as before, the teachings of Sun Tzu's The Art Of War.

Many western Military Colleges use Sun Tzu's works in the curriculum.

The biggest notable leave from The Art Of War is making known the strength of your military.

They are! And the men and women who crew them are brave people. I've been on them and they are tiny by comparison to nuke subs. The Chinese government plays the long game. They are great strategists, and have zero care for their own people when it comes to their political ambitions. They do know that the biggest threat to their power comes from disenchanted Chinese people, how do you keep them happy? You give them hope. And very soon that hope will need to come from conquest as they are running out of govt funded ways to keep the standard of living rising.
Yes Wars are more often the thing to distract and consolidate the masses, aka the US model

My father, who worked for defence, and was an Army reservist, said for many years that Australia was indefencible and our Navy and Airforce too small, and the only option was for the Army to go guerilla and hide in the bush, leaving the population, and hope for our allies to intervene. He said that in the 1980s. He also saw the threat as China way back then, and possibly Indonesia.

We are meaningless to the USA and need to understand they will never go to war against China if we are invaded. Ok rant over lol
Definitely not meaningless to the US. They want our resources like they want from pil from Greenland and lithium from Ukraine. Expect a deal to give our resources to the US in return for them not ending our pharmaceutical benefit scheme. Gina will get the 99 year contract to dig it out of the ground for them.

There is merit in that. Australia's best defences are its size and inhospitable lands. This US administration will throw any country under the bus to get what they want. It's about power and the US has lots of it. I think that will slowly change as the world improvises a new order. And the US needs to understand what they are doing now has consequences that will undermine their position at the head of the table. No one likes a bully. Especially when the people you are bullying have buried their sons and daughters in pursuit of the antagonists agenda's.

@Horny A you mentioned Gina, I met her once. I was working on a Hancock property and she walked up to chat with me. Came across as warm and personable no airs that she was wealthy, then just continued on her walk. Appeared engaging and genuinely interested in knowing more about me. I didn't feel intimidated as it didn't really sink in until later as I was just too busy.

@Mod7 Pine Gap in the NT may keep the US as a vested interest in Australia, not sure if the US still has a Marine base further north in the NT. Can't see them giving it up easily. Not sure if the Harold Holt base is still a joint venture anymore in Exmouth.
Quite a few from Adelaide, Edinburgh base got moved to Pine Gap last year.
We have gone from China being our biggest threat to now Europe

Donald Trump is routinely rated as the least popular and sucessful President in US history.
A hopeless businessman at best, six times bankrupt, sexual predator, grifter, chronic liar, narcissist and all-round fraud.

That's on a good day.

There is a growing belief that Elon Musk manipulated the results of the 2024 election and used voter supression in four key states.

I booked a week off work to sit home and watch the telecast on 24. I, like millions of others, was in shock at what happened.

If the whole thing was carefully audited, I think it would come to light that Kamala Harris was the actual winner.

Until Musk bounced along, high on Ketamine, Trump couldn't have gotten elected dog catcher. His rallies weren't even half full and people were walking out in disgust at his rambling word salads.

Kamala Harris was recieving a welcome the equivalent of the Rolling Stones.

Sounds really odd, doesn't it? Something happened. Something really dubious and
shady.

As for the "assassination attempt", .....geez, that ear grew back pretty quick, didn't it? No scarring whatsoever.

Publicity stunt. Not an act of god (I'm an athiest)

Move to the present day and economists are already saying that his tarrifs could easily cause a worldwide recession. Joe Biden spent four years fixing the mess that was left from the previous go-round and it's taken the old nut a mere two months to wreck it again.

There are dark days ahead unless Americans who see through his bullshit stand up and say "Enough"!

I could go on and on (I sometimes do) but I think I've made my point.

Trump is poison.

I think us Australians underestimate the grass roots support he has from far right republican voters. Its hard to understand the logic, or lack thereof. There is an old management technique where if there isnt a crisis create one to divert your followers attention from the facts. He is doing that in spades and has cost me personally a lot in my super overnight from the other side of the world. Yes Im pissed, end of rant.

And I get that. No chance of ever climbing out of a borderline existence. Working for 8 bucks an hour and hoping people tip is a sad way to live. America may have been the home of the free but it's now the home of the impoverished and forgotten. Trump is selling the same sh*t another guy did in the 1930's. Give them hope for equality and they will come. Meanwhile Trump is working on his golf game, care factor for the needy zero. Are we going to repeat the sins of the past?
