Wow, that would be the equivalent of 2-3 punts with one of the gorgeous escorts but I guess you had your reasons.

Whatever happened to Hunypot?

I have heard that HP will be reopening. The building owners sold/upgraded the site so HP moved down to Hotel Darwin - Though new owners took over and were not keen on the arrangement.

As for Sinners.....I think it used to be a lot better back in the day. Once apon a time I worked there are a barman.

How long ago was that?

The reason why I avoid going to strip clubs in Darwin is because of their 'No Touch' policy. There are better strip joints interstate without stringent rules.

Over 10 years ago..... There was still a sort of no touch policy...loosely in place....

I remember the first couple of weeks working there and thought I was in heaven, gorgeous bodies eveywhere, all the tits and ass you could get an eyeful of.....Then after a while I noticed, I wasn't noticing anymore. Then after a while going out for a few beers with mates out on the town, I stopped looking at girls because I was around naked ones evrey night at work.

I don't think I bothered trying to get laid for a fair few months after working there.....lol.

I love me a night out at Sinners!!

They even helped me out with a pair of shoes when my thongs didn't match their dress policy.
I like it when Squires (pool hall) next door closes and they open up the beer garden.

I met a very interesting jackaroo there one night.... you know what they say - Wear the hat, ride the cowboy!

I have it on good authority that the Honey Pot Club is reopening in the next two months at a new venue in the the CBD

Is it a couple friendly club, or will the presence of a female punter mean she has to fight off the local lads all night?

Some places the regular crowd don't bat an eyelid, others assume a woman at a strip club is "up for anything".....

I've had great nights out at Sinsations - without feeling intimidated or even really hit on! Just a good night out. I've chatted with a few couples there too. I find Honeypot girls tend to give me queeer looks then the Sinners girls.

I thought there was some resistance in allowing discovery to include Honeypot - something about encouraging anti social behaviours. I'll see if I can dig out the article.

NT News 24/1/16 - Honey Pot proposed for Discovery Nightclub
http://www.ntnews.com.au/business/h...7ea1b848d26e5847e089a2a8d#load-story-comments

PARTY-goers could soon be lining up for more than a boogy as a renowned strip joint proposes to move into a popular nightclub.

Discovery Nightclub on Mitchell St is teaming up with the owners of the Honey Pot Club to design private dancing areas for strip shows.

The private dancing booths will be in the upper-bar level of Discovery and will be strictly compliant with surveillance cameras, at least one security officer and a responsible member of management present at all times.

A proposal made to the Director-General of Licensing to vary Discovery’s licence conditions to include the private dancing booths, and to alter parts of the layout of the nightclub, will be put to Darwin council on Wednesday night.

The application proposes to extend the area on the third terrace and install private booths that will be accessed by stairs and an elevator.

The application also includes extra toilets.

Honey Pot was previously operating at Hotel Darwin before the establishment sold in August.

Owner Graeme Oates lodged an application to the NT Licensing Commission to reopen the club at 33 Smith St – next to a children’s playground and water play area.

At the time, Darwin council fiercely opposed the development, but the proposal was accepted by the Development Consent Authority.

In the agenda for the ordinary meeting on Wednesday, officers will advise council there are no grounds for objecting to the application, as it would not affect any council- owned or controlled land.

Chan ward alderman Kate Worden said she preferred the new location of the strip club over Smith St Mall.

“Common sense has prevailed,” she said. “Mitchell St is a more appropriate venue than the mall, particularly when they were thinking about it being right behind the children’s play area.

“This is a much better outcome.”

Mr Oates and Discovery owner Mario Madaffari both declined to comment on the proposal.

NT News 28/1/16 - Darwin council gets ethical on proposal to mix strip joint and nightclub
http://www.ntnews.com.au/entertainm...7e9c38b58fbc91e1bedda7c13#load-story-comments

DARWIN Council is having an ethical dilemma with the proposal to mix a renowned strip club with a popular nightclub.

Discovery Nightclub wants to vary its liquor license to build private booths in its building to accommodate Honey Pot Club dancers.

The Director-General of Licensing asked for council’s comment on Tuesday evening.

Officers recommended council accept the proposal because it had no grounds for objection against the liquor license variation.

But it caused a stir with aldermen who said the proposal was seedy and would brew destruction for the community.

Alderman Gary Haslett said council should still have the right to object to the proposal.
v1

“This is sleazy at best and it could be bad for the community,” he said.

“I remember we discussed a party being held on council property and we were concerned.

“We had no real proof about particular drug taking and then we had a spate of deaths.

“We had a feeling about it.

“We should be able to say something in the letter that expresses that.

“I know it’s not our area but we’re spending a lot of money on Mitchell St and if we’re going to have activities that excite people and in an alcohol-fuelled environment and it spills out on the street, then it becomes our problem.”

Alderman Kate Worden said, while it was a better location than Honey Pot’s former proposal to establish itself in Smith St Mall, council needed to look at the impacts on the community of having it inside a nightclub.

“Is that a good outcome for our city?,” she said.

“I can’t see it.

“Every meeting we sit here and we look over alcohol licenses and it’s not getting any better.”

Alderman Allan Mitchell said he didn’t support the mix of party poppers and Honey Pot clientele mixing together.

“When it did operate down the end of Mitchell St I don’t think it ever came to our notice because it was a stand-alone operation – you went to the Honey Pot or you didn’t,” he said.

In council’s response to the Director-General of Licensing, it said council was concerned that the “proposed amended conditions may cause community harm”.

Interesting article and also an interesting one to watch and see where hunypot ends up, a strip club in itself is not an issue but where to place it clearly is. Putting it in the Mall is just ridiculous as families with children go there and it's just plain inappropriate. Placing it in a nightclub is I believe a recipe for disaster as you are mixing young drunk, possibly drug fuelled men into the mix and it could well increase the level of violence as well as sexual assaults on young women attending the nightclub.
So where is the best place to establish Hunypot ?? Especially in Darwin as it is a small CBD area. Therein lies the dilemma ... I would say somewhere close to where brothels are but they are illegal in the NT
